San Luis Obispo, CA - KSBP

Airport last visited July 22, 2023

Pattern/Approach

If arriving from the north via Paso Robles, expect a hand off from flight following as you descend over the Cuesta Ridge, north of town. Prevailing winds favor runway 29, with a published left pattern. Tower often offers a convenient right pattern for 29 when arriving from the north. Arrivals from the south are often allowed a straight-in to runway 29.

Parking and Fueling

For transient aircraft stopping at the Spirit of San Luis restaurant, there is convenient parking on the 'blue line' in front of the restaurant, near the base of the control tower. Good self serve gas prices are usually available. For the self service pump, taxi on Echo to the west of runway 29, then via taxiway Mike to the West Side Ramp area.

Transportion

We've only used San Luis for refueling and lunch, so no transportation recommendations yet.

Dining

San Luis Obispo has one of the best airport restaurants around. The Spirit of San Luis Restaurant has ramp parking right adjacent to the restaurant, near the tower on the east side of the runway, and serves excellent meals, including fresh seafood dishes. We really enjoy the charbroiled Snapper Vera Cruz.

Lodging

We've only used San Luis for refueling and lunch, so no lodging recommendations yet.

To-Do

It's southern California!
